The inhabitants make a big difference between this island and its rival Culatra. However, apart from the fact that it takes less time to get there from d'Olhão, the island of Armona has strange similarities with its neighbour: pedestrian-only, no church or school, and a beautiful quiet beach that is often deserted. The island of Armona has a "main street" that starts on the ferry dock and has a few buildings, before giving way to houses and a shop and café. At its western end there is a family atmosphere, with a campsite and a village. Lovers of water sports will appreciate the water corridor between the island and the mainland
