A natural boundary of Asturias and Galicia, the ría de Ribadeo is a narrow inlet of the sea, about 10 km long. Declared a Biosphere Reserve, its wetlands are teeming with crabs, salmon and trout, and its lush green shores are lined with eucalyptus, pine and laurel trees. It is also a protected area for birds where many migratory birds come to spend the winter. Amongst others, different species of ducks, coots and grey herons can be observed. The coastline offers a succession of beautiful beaches, while inland there are some beautiful nature walks.
