Like all the ports or cities of the region, this medieval town is nestled at the bottom of the river that bears its name, between the rivers Mandeo and Mando. Declared a historical and artistic site, Betanzos is absolutely worth a visit, as it is considered the capital of Galician Gothic. It is considered the capital of Galician Gothic, not only for its well-preserved churches, Santa María del Azogue, San Francisco and Santiago, but also for the rich houses of its historic district, which are evidence of the vitality of this rich agricultural center in the 14th and 15th centuries. In terms of gastronomy, don't miss the famous "tortilla de Betanzos", made from a local type of potato. You can taste it in one of the restaurants of the town. The tourist office (www.betanzos.es) is located in Praza de Galicia. It is open every day, all year round. You will find documentation in French, and the office can put you in contact with local people for guided tours.
