Sárospatak is a cultural and wine centre in the Tokaj-Hegyalja region. This "Hungarian Athens" on the edge of the river Bodrog boasts a thermal baths in the middle of a large park of 5 hectares. Imre Makovecz, a Hungarian star architect of the 1980 s - 1990, shaped some of the city's public édificies. Saint Elizabeth comes from Sárospatak (a church is dedicated to him with his relics).To see: the reformed school and its magnificent library containing over 500 000 old books and Rákóczi castle.
