The Zemplén Mountains, ancient forest-covered volcanoes, are now a protected natural area.These mysterious mountains with conical shapes in intact landscapes where grapes grow (vineyard of Tokaj-Hegyalja) have since the 1970 s seen the great savage predators of yesteryear, especially lynx and wolves. On the heights you can also see the royal eagle.On the ancient slide, so-called stone seas, the forests of beech and birch trees grow. These mountains are located in ancient mining villages.It is only recently that travellers begin to rediscover them: Háromhuta, Ujhuta, Nagyhuta and Kishuta.The proposed route (take a big day by car) from Tokaj and tour the Zemplén Mountains starting on the western slopes.
