Travel Guide Lillafüred

From Eger, take 50 km Route 2505 which crosses the Bükk Mountains (no direct bus from Eger but from Miskolc). A dozen kilometres before arriving in Miskolc, you will find the Resort of Lillafüred with its beautiful Lake Hámori, where it is possible to make the boat, its shady forests and its extraordinary hotel of fake Gothic style, true castle of the beautiful Wood Beauty: Hotel Palota. Below the hanging gardens of the Palota Hotel, Anna's cave, a cave of limestone tufa, offers visitors the curiosity of their stone lace created at the end of the ice period. Not far from there, cave István is also famous for his stalactites and stalagmites. It is 340 m long and leads to a small underground lake. There are more than 800 known caves in the Bükk Mountains, and some of them contain prehistoric bones and artifacts. Among the activities of the region, mention should also be made of the logging of wood and the cooking of lime, still practised in its forests, as well as the rearing of trout in its small lakes and its abundant waters.
