Ten miles from Highway 37. In 1530 Gáspár Károli, pastor of the village of Gönc, translated the Bible into Hungarian for the first time. It was printed in Vizsoly, where one can see a copy of this translation. It was also in Gönc that the reformed School of Sárospatak was réfugia during the Counter-Reformation. But Gönc is known mainly for having given its name to the 136 liter oak barrel (gönci hordok) which serves as a unit of measurement for the aszú aszú.
