On the Sinis peninsula, this town on the edge of the Cabras pond is dear to the hearts of all Sardinians. It is here, in fact, that the mullet is fished, the precious eggs of which are dried and then smoked to produce the famous bottarga. Also, birdwatchers come here to put down binoculars and spotting scopes. One can observe large colonies of pink flamingos, cormorants, herons, but also harriers and falcons. The town was founded in the 11th century to escape the raids of the North African pirates who sacked Tharros several times.By bus, line 427 connects Oristano to Cabras in 15 minutes and the journey costs 1 €.
