Forum Traiani, the ancient name of Fordongianus, was the main Roman fortification in the interior of Sardinia. The ruins of the aqueduct, the amphitheatre and the thermal baths are still visible from that period. The thermal waters of Fordongianus, rich in sulphuric acid, chlorine and nitrosated acid, have been exploited since the Romans. The very modern Centro Terme di Sardegna or the small thermal baths on the banks of the Tirso River allow this practice to continue. The most interesting building is the Casa Madeddu, dating from the 17th century. The church of San Lussorio, built around 1100 on a paleochristian hypogeum, dominates the surrounding countryside.
