On the border between Barbagia and Southern Sardinia, Laconi can be said to be in the centre of the island without lying too much. The village attracts lovers of prehistory, as a series of menhirs dating back to the 6th century B.C. have been discovered here. Pilgrims gather in front of the house where Saint Ignatius was born. They then march in procession, stopping at the Museum of Sacred Art and the Church of Saint Ambrose. The Aymerich Park on the outskirts of the town has been laid out around the old Laconi Castle. Only one tower remains.
