Mandas is a small village located in the hills of the central region of Sardinia called "Trexenta", once considered the "granary" of Rome. Cereals were cultivated on its fertile lands, destined to supply the capital of the empire. The hills surrounding the village still bear witness to this ancient past, turning the golden colour of wheat in the summer. In 1614 Mandas became the seat of the only duchy of the Spanish crown in Sardinia and remained so until 1843. From this ducal period, the town keeps many monuments and works of art preserved in the churches, convents and museums of the old town.
