Porto Rotondo competes with Porto Cervo for the title of Saint-Tropez of Sardinia. Jet-setters and Italian celebrities rub shoulders in a festive atmosphere of unbridled luxury. The famous tourist resort was born at the end of the 1960s by the Venetian family Donà delle Rose who entrusted several artists and renowned architects with the task of creating a port and a village. Residences and villas are built in a semicircle around the Sporting Hotel, which dominates the harbor where many yachts and sailing boats are moored. A promenade goes around the marine cove and connects the different squares. A stroll through the narrow streets of the town allows you to admire an open-air museum enriched with the works of artists who were called upon at the time of Porto Rotondo's development. The restaurants are much more expensive than the average. Please note that this is a holiday resort and all hotels and restaurants are closed from October to Easter. So you have to come in summer to enjoy the effervescent jet-set atmosphere. September seems to be the best time to stroll around this beautiful port in peace and quiet. The crowds leave the town and prices drop a little.
