Just 10 km from Rhodes town, the Kallithea thermal baths overlook a beach with crystal-clear waters. Built by the Italians in the 1920s, this architectural gem is one of the finest examples of Fascist heritage in Rhodes, and enjoys a unique setting. Around it, resorts for tour operators spread out endlessly, while the beautiful beaches are invaded by beach bars, with loud music, deckchairs and umbrellas (count €30 a day for two deckchairs). KTEL buses run every 30 minutes in summer from Rhodes town's central station, and the journey takes around 15 minutes - ideal for a day trip.
