Travel Guide Pärnu

The town is aptly named, as Pärnu means "the town of lime trees" and there are many of them lining its alleys. Situated on the road that connects Rīga to Tallinn (the Via Baltica), this small, peaceful town on the shores of the Baltic becomes very lively when the weather is fine and is Estonia's leading seaside resort. With its festivals, casinos and health resorts, its long and wide white sandy beach and promenade, Pärnu is like the Deauville or even the Nice of Estonia (44,000 inhabitants). If you're in Estonia in the middle of summer, you should make a detour to Pärnu, if only to party!
