The municipality of Suuremoisa is best known for its manor house, the largest group of Baroque manor houses in the country. With some 300 inhabitants, it is also one of the island's largest villages. The present manor house was built in 1755-1760 by the noble Stenbock family. The architecture was inspired by the Swedes, notably Ulriksdal Palace, with its mansard roof. The complex is surrounded by a pleasant English-style park. Well worth a visit. Otherwise, the town itself is of little interest, but the surrounding area is pleasant.
