In the middle of the cirque, along the Rivière des Galets, the three islets of Grand-Place (550 m) are crossed by the GR R2. Around 130 people are scattered over several square kilometers. The town begins with Cayenne, a village clinging to the cliff and dominated by a small church. The first school was set up here in 1923. Now no longer in use, the buildings still stand. Then there's Grand-Place-Boutique, long home to the island's only boutique. It is still home to the circus's only post office. Finally, Grand-Place-les-Hauts is isolated on the Calumets ridge.
