20 minutes from the coast, between the Cilaos and La Plaine arms, the town of L'Entre-Deux (400 m) is worth a visit. This village of 6,600 inhabitants has kept a gentle Creole way of life. The locality's motto is "Two arms, one heart". It will be a pleasant and easily accessible holiday resort, with many charming guest rooms. The village still lives a lot from the craft industry and has managed to revive a thousand and one forgotten trades. It is home to a remarkable collection of old huts, perhaps the highest concentration on the island. Forming a mini-circle, l'Entre-Deux overlooks the wide mouth of the Saint-Etienne river and the great plain of the South. It is a good starting point for walks and hikes in the surroundings, especially on the Dimitile massif, which offers a magnificent panorama of Cilaos.
