Ribeirinha is a farming village. The colourful main street is dominated by wrought iron balconies. At the top of the village, from the Miradouro de Serra da Ribeirinha, you can enjoy a superb view of the Ilhéus das Cabras. Cut in two by a volcanic eruption in 1550, these islets provided protection for two submarines during the war. They are now populated mainly by birds and cracas (barnacles). Also on the heights, the Casa Etnográfica, if it is open, can be a pretext for a short cultural break. Inaugurated in 2003, it is a living portrait of the region.
