At the Gallo-Roman era, the place where the present village of Saint-Germain-Laprade is located was already occupied as evidenced by a Roman way, numerous fragments of pottery, the currencies of that time, a Gallo-Roman stele and, above all, the current of the steeple consisting of elements of a former temple. The village later drew its name from one of the two saints: Saint-Germain l'Auxerre (384-448) or Saint-Germain de Paris (496-575). When the name "Laprade", it refers to an expanse of meadows. Saint-Germain-Laprade has a very old church. The first mention appeared in 1164. The construction took place in several stages. In the Romanesque primitive structure, the th century was added, two Gothic side chapels, then in the th century, two chapels in the north. In the th century, it underwent further transformations (opening of a oculus, coronation of the steeple…) and in the twentieth century, several transformations altered a silhouette that remained unique and original.
