There are addresses Lyon residents rarely thinks of, for lack of visibility. So, we walk by, in front, behind it... every day and we get caught by a Parisian friend who tells us: "By the way, what do you think about Les Terrasses Saint-Pierre, the Fine arts museum restaurant? ". And then, you do not know what to answer! How long haven't we visited the museum? For too long. We barely know that on the first floor of this one, in a very pleasant nature setting within walking distance from the bustle of the city centre, there is a café-restaurant that has the good taste to offer buffets on Sundays. You can settle with your head in the trees, facing the balustrade and you discover a nice menu for a gourmet visit. The products are stamped by Lyon good addresses: melon soup and ham with truffle; rocket salad, burrata, tomato and speck; beef tartare in classical or Italian version; a salmon steak, fresh tagliatelles and seasonal vegetables; to be finished with a praline tart or a homemade chocolate fondant. An address finally little known by Lyonnais who will delight all the smart people who want to discover it.

This is a restaurant that doesn't take for what it's not. Not really, a trendy address or for gourmet purposes, but it knows by its atmosphere a little prolo and a villain attracting many clients who do not like the room atmosphere that reigns in many establishments. The leather jackets of the regulars who are accoudés at the counter are attached to the portemanteau. Between the dish of the day, a duck of duck, a few dishes or salads, the choice is not very large but quite sufficient. The discussions are lively, provocative. Laughter and jokes abound. The South Counter is also a lair where one listens to the show "There if I am" the committed radio show of Daniel Mermet on France Inter. This corresponds to the spirit of this simple and interesting establishment.

A strange place for a meeting. In this street with dull façades, where nothing, or almost, suggests a place full of charm, you stop short in front of Steff's. Stéphane Fernandez is in the street and he still debates with a guest on the pavement. It must be said that he knows how to entertain a charming dining room in which he managed to bring all Lyonnnais gratin. Once you pass the door, the round tables and deep armchairs, the floor made of polished concrete, the lights give a superb tone to an establishment where the staff implements a relaxed approach while doing things seriously. Every day, the menu is properly written on a piece of paper according to the inspiration of the moment. It must be said that Steff likes to do research and surprise his guests who has never enough of a gourmet table where you can enjoy a tuna cooked in a beautiful way. In any case, when you enter here, you should trust the chef (and you can do it!). Between the innovative restaurant, the exclusive bar, the trendy meeting place... Steff always combines several positions with the same elegance.

Very modestly, and because the huge Georges Blanc has common sense, it seems that the head of Vonnas has gone in our direction by slowing down the increase in these rates and by "refocusing" on other dishes than around meat. Even if the card still offers a Burger Gourmand in the county (bread and French quality meat) at the same time 21 €. The decor remains the same and is rather successful, avoiding making this restaurant a cliché of its kind with its relevant inscriptions. The kitchen is equal to what one is entitled to expect from a house worn by this multi-star chef. The card still features pieces that you won't find anywhere else, meat selected with special care such as this Black Angus Beef Tomahawk (94 € for 2 people) or a Japanese beef mudflap Wagyu at 38 € 180 g. All meats are exceptional and the sauces are homemade. But we also like to turn to a block in the crust of fatty liver marble, "King Prawns XL" gambas, a "new" lobster of Tristan da Cunha baked to Plancha or beautiful sole meunière, not forgetting another Fleeced Zum De, as well as a supreme volaille façon. A nice response from a centre that should not be overwhelmed. Smart follows the case carefully.

At the corner of rue Saint-Jean and place Neuve, which opens one of the rare "perspectives" on Old Lyon, the Panier du Chef occupies a privileged place. Its terrace is one of the most pleasant in the district, as long as you enjoy the passage of the many tourists in search of Lyon's food and specialities. Speaking of "Lyonnais specialities", you will find them all on the restaurant's menu, but what you will find less are the flavours of our local dishes. A prime location doesn't make for excellent cuisine - and you can't be sure that the chef fills his basket with fresh produce every morning - but the food is good enough to take a break in this wonderful area of Lyon.

At the corner of the rue de Sèze and the Boileau street, right next to the town hall of the 6 th (moreover, this establishment was the former Café of the Town Hall), some work transformed this "traditional" coffee into a "café pub" perfectly in the air of time. No one will be surprised to learn that the new boss is named Chloe. But what's more amazing is the journey of this adorable person who displays a Master's Degree in Chemistry, who has gone through management and recruitment, who has training in bookstores and is now chef in cooking and pastry! Hat. Marion and Chris (the Brazilian who makes hell cocktails…) are in the service in a room that does not revolve around a counter but a library. Because at Chloe, we're taking his coffee at large hours (with every month the development of a café in the world), we're doing tea in the afternoon, we've got régaler lunch and dinner, but we're also reading and discovering books (in free consultation and sale) around particular themes (tourism with Petit Smart and Lonely Planet, cuisine, creative leisure, youth…). For children, visiting storytellers, and for adults, workshops around wine. And on the plates? A cuisine full of freshness and flavours made with products from local producers (fruits and vegetables of Saint-Prim, meat and charcuterie of Amplepuis…). A kitchen of sharing, in the image of the places, a seasonal kitchen to be happy. Some dishes: marinated rump of, potatoes, salad; mozza-aubergines-tomatoes-pignons, raw ham, salad; salad of young shoots, cherry tomatoes, avocado, raw ham, pine pine, feta or Parmesan… A vegetarian proposal every day and homemade desserts, from the heart of black chocolate to the almond apricot pie. In the evening, planks to enjoy friends in all friendliness, good producer wines, Mont Blanc beers in pressure and cocktails by Chris (mojito, caïpirinha, margarita…). Really think of getting bigger… Sure that Christophe, the boss of the places, seriously believes in pushing the walls of this address full of generosity and flavours. A boss who likes to give pleasure, share the good things of life, helped by the adorable Camille aux and Christelle behind the bar. The reception, like service and kitchen, is sincere, frank of the necklace, as we love, with always a smile, a kind attention that makes you never feel alone at the Echalote. In this lively and lively place all day, the gourmets enjoy a kitchen that does not cheat. After a wining return, Docks 40 changed direction but did not change formula. The day, it is the ideal address of the district of Confluence to be on one of the most beautiful terraces of the city, facing the Saône, for a drink or lunch while enjoying a brasserie menu. At the time of the aperitif (which is readily prolonged), you continue with tapas in a lounge atmosphere, which is real success. The evening continues on the table in a renovated decor. Silver glints goes around a modernized room whereas beautiful photographs catch the eyes. Among the tapas on offer: a terrine of foie gras accompanied by its fig bread, a dish of involtini, a served whole Abruzzese sausage, a tasty charcuterie platter; next, the meat's tapas with a quail fillet lacquered in yakitori's way, a delicious duo of mini-burger or fish tapas with a mid-cooked salmon smoked with Sichuan pepper or the pan-fried prawns with chopped parsley; before finishing with sweet tapas, like these fruit skewers with chocolate sauce. Careful, do not dine too late, because as the bell sounds from 23:00 and the music and the dance are replacing the catering service, facilitating our digestion. Docks, much more than a restaurant, is a crucial address during the day and night, recommended by Futé.

Change of facade and decoration this year for an Ebullition that doesn't burn our money while treating our taste buds. This is undoubtedly one of the smartest plans to put both feet under a large table at low prices. Moreover, each year, Futé wonders whether the displayed prices are really the right ones, since the quality-price ratio seems exceptional. It must be said that an address right in the heart of Presqu'île with such a level of cuisine and a full lunch menu at only €17 could look like a hoax! However, L'Ébullition has met the challenge for some years and continues to make, on a day-to-day basis, an authentic seasonal cuisine that is creative and refined. The only thing that is "expensive" in this elegant house is the places that it is better to book, for lunch and dinner! And the only downside to our taste is the lack of friendliness at the reception and the service, preventing us to really recommend this address. Short menu for perfect freshness and harmony of flavours composed with know-how and mischievousness: Sliced pollock, rice vinegar, pomelo, green mango. Coming up next, a porc shoulder confit during 8h, tomates grappes, artichokes, raviole of aubergines. And end on a note of strawberries, meringue, lemon cream and basil ice cream. From this Ebullition, gourmet dishes that you should enjoy while waiting for a behaviour change in the dining room.

Next, golden scorpionfish fillet, virgin sauce, fennel seed, round fillet of veal stuffed with herbs, simple juice or a lamb shank, simmered in old-fashioned way. We never waste our time when discovering the Passage. A "different" restaurant in the landscape of Lyonnais cuisine. First, its location is not ordinary: at the bottom of a courtyard where you go through a passage, a traboule situated between two shops which act as a shaded terrace in summer… two steps from the town hall, the new and the old, Passage is part of the "gastronomic Lyon heritage" and has been among the gastronomic institutions of the city for over 30 years. The interior exudes a soft atmosphere, mainly red, due to the lack of natural light highlighted by the famous leather armchairs of the Majestic, while the "Bistro" room takes us to the seats of the Eldorado theatre. Two characterful rooms for a restaurant which displays a revisited menu elaborated by chef Frédéric Cordier. Seasonal products, combinations of flavours and dishes presented as works of art: Lobster salad, avocado and crispy vegetables, citrus vinaigrette, a homemade smoked salmon or a foie gras terrine with figs. Meat dishes such as roasted rack of lamb and potatoes gratin with bacon and well highlighted seafood dishes such as monkfish and gambas, sweet potato purée, coconut milk and a combawa. Surprisingly, you can finish the evening late at the bar seated on deep leather armchairs or in a small private room to smoke a cigar under a French ceiling. Several places in one, welcoming both lovers and groups. A timeless Passage which remains a safe bet.

The promise of place supported by a leader to "great" gueule and heart is simple: make you eat fresh products at lower cost. Promise only partly held after a meal that takes more of the "concept" than of the kitchen, which seems to us to be a height for a restaurant "chef". From our installation in a minimalist room, only a few funny quotations on the walls to attract our attention, a lady comes to "sell" our meal, forgetting to quote the famous "Philippe Etchebest of Top Chef". It's after the problems arrive at the same time as the dishes. There is no doubt about the quality of farmed salmon or the freshness of meat, but nothing is really cooked, just cooked. Charmelcia sauce, incidentally without interest, is forgotten, just like bread, while the appetizer's peanuts end up cooking on the flat heater that will be used to keep chips (will) warm. Disappointing. And the tartar is showing an incredible "platitude", dry, and without the possibility of season to our taste. The other disappointment is the price. Because in the end, adding a dessert to 6,50 € - again, a vacherin with a taste of water not terrible - and a beer at 3,90 €, the meal returned to more than € 23 without entrance, without coffee (1,90 €)! No doubt Smart hoped for it too much in a rue des Marronniers little known for the quality of these establishments (there are still caps where, for an equal price, or even less, one can eat fresh and cooked products… Read and be Smart).

A "folk and regional" atmosphere at the Pailleron, even though it is not clear to which region, the south-west certainly, the beautiful red berets must be awarded. Seeing the world on Saturday evening (yes, we always come on Saturday evening…), the service is quickly overstretched, not very kind and will have difficulty taking our order in a chahut worthy of a student soirée. From the mezzanine to the corners of the room, you no longer agree. Side kitchen, nothing changes and it's so much better will say some, lovers of generosity, and it's so bad to say others, who don't like a fat kitchen where quantity masks a lack of quality. The Pailleron is not finesse with a nachos of lyon guts, a pie-roasted pie at the Perigordian, a cassoulet of Périgord to the old or fresh pâtes and smoked breasts. Provide a good digestive walk before going to bed!

A quite fashionable address which largely deserves that we climb up to the plateau of Croix-Rousse to discover this establishment held by Fernanda Ribeiro, young and talented chef. Small terrace in a quiet street and room which keeps the promise of the "cosy" brand with its large photos hung on red walls. Well put tables, comfortable black seats, some good bottles on the heights, everything is implemented to receive us well at this best chefs' pupil: Bocuse, Ducasse and Le Bec. As her name suggests it, Fernanda is Brazilian, but if her cuisine has indeed an exotic accent, she offers a quite French semi-gourmet menu. Everything is homemade and the ingredients are of quality for perfectly presented seasonal dishes: Fish of the day Ceviche with homemade coconut milk, fresh corn, red onions, roasted sweet potato and its lime emulsion or an almond ice cream, watermelon and mint vinaigrette. Then, a picanha - typically Brazilian dish - of black beef, foie gras terrine, candied rustic garlic, seasonal vegetables and its sauce with a mix of peppers from Brazil or a Fish of the day with a maracuja sauce - passion fruit from Brazil - wild whole rice from Camargue and peanuts. Beautiful surprises at the time of dessert with a frozen chocolate-coffee from Brazil mousse and its hot gianduja ganache, without forgetting the delicious homemade ice creams.
