This village, which owes its name to the 8th milestone of the Roman road, is located on the plateau of Isle-Crémieu. At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, Optevoz was a privileged place to stay for many painters from Lyon, such as Ravier or Appian, but also from Paris: Corot, Daubigny..., attracted by the variety and beauty of the landscapes, as well as the effects of light on the water of the ponds. At the Auberge des Peintres, a permanent exhibition recalls this period. The pond of Lemps, a remarkable site, classified as a sensitive natural area, is home to a variety of fauna and flora, which theme trail, panorama and observatory allow to discover in a privileged way.
