The railway town (14,000 inhabitants) owes its fame to its geographical location. A true European crossroads, it has kept countless vestiges of these historical stages in several places in the city. The jewel in the crown is of course the Château des Allymes located on the heights of the city, the most contemporary are the freight marshalling yard, the air base and the solar high school with its modern architecture. The poet Gabriel Vicaire (1848-1900) is buried in the city cemetery. Ambérieu-en-Bugey needs to be explored. In your journey, do not forget the town hall: it is a former monk's cellar converted into a people's house
