Crémieu, one of the most beautiful medieval cities of the region, is listed in the network of the "most beautiful detours of France" and classified in the Zone of Protection of the Architectural, Urban and Landscape Heritage. From its 900 years of history, the city preserves remarkable architectural testimonies easily accessible all year long. The fortified enclosure of more than 3 km, dominated by the 12th century castle, protects a 15th century market hall which, in addition to its architectural audacity, remains the living testimony of the commercial dynamism of the city. However, other more modest buildings are to be discovered in the bend of numerous alleys like these small typical houses with painted or stone facades (from the 13th to the 19th century). Through the narrow streets of Cremolane, you will also notice beautiful Renaissance houses or charming wine growers' houses with wisteria-covered walls. Religious architecture is also well represented with the splendid conventual complex of the Augustins. From generation to generation, the inhabitants have preserved and passed on the beauty of each monument, of each house. A unique ensemble from which emanates a particular and enveloping atmosphere that encourages strolling... To live even more intensely the history of Crémieu, go during the famous Medieval Days (in September 2023). Historical tour with a numbered route of 52 points to discover the city and all its monuments.
