Notre-Dame-de-l'Osier (500 inhabitants) is located in the west of the Vercors massif, on a hill bordering the right bank of the Isère river. This village is known for its Marian pilgrimages on August 15, September 8 and December 8. Their origin dates back to 1649, when a local resident saw the wicker he was cutting bleed mysteriously. Eight years later, the Virgin appeared to him. A religious congregation was established, pilgrims flocked... and miracles followed one after the other. The sanctuary (Bon-Rencontre chapel) and the Notre-Dame-de-l'Osier basilica (19th century) are visited each year by tens of thousands of pilgrims.
