Vinay is a village of 4,370 inhabitants, located at the foot of the Vercors and the Chambarans massif, in the lower valley of the Isère, halfway between Grenoble and Valence. It is one of the entrances to the Vercors Regional Natural Park. Capital of the AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) of the Grenoble walnut, the small town is in the heart of the largest walnut grove in Europe, with more than 150,000 walnut trees spread over 1,500 hectares. The Grand Séchoir is undoubtedly the best place to visit to learn all about this popular walnut.
