Part of the Saint-Marcellin Vercors Isère Communauté, the commune of Choranche - with just over 100 inhabitants - owes its fame to its location at the foot of the Vercors limestone cliffs and a remarkable cave. Voted most beautiful village in Isère in 2023, Choranche is home to the gorges de la Bourne, which offer the impressive natural spectacle of a torrent tumbling down the mountain in a vertiginous gash. The gorges de la Bourne route, sometimes closed in early autumn and spring depending on weather conditions, is one of the most spectacular in the Alps.
