The origin of this name is difficult to define. Is he corbelanium, revealing, perhaps, the existence of a former Gallo-Roman villa, whose owner named Corbelius du Gallic Corbus? De Corbel, name of the first prior of the Canons of the order of Saint-Ruf, established in the village in 1142? Or from Latin corvus (crow), hence the creation of the coat of the commune in 1993? Its territory exists in the early centuries of our era, even though, until now, no archaeological discovery has been made. With the opening of its first mills in 1847, it became "Silk City". At the beginning of the th century, it developed through the textile industry: there are then several weaving plants, including the Donat plant, which is located in the heart of the village, which manufactures woven silk fabrics, with complicated designs intended for the manufacture of luxury products. At the same time, "silky" is home to tisser in individuals, most of them farmers, providing income supplements. In the 1900 s, the textile crisis began, resulting in a gradual reduction in activities and closures. But a few companies have been able to maintain the course and the textile sector has some nice hours before it.
