Chanaz (the "z" is not pronounced) is the "Little Savoyard Venice", because of its presence on the Savière canal, which connects the Bourget lake to the Rhône. The village is therefore part of the ViaRhôna, a bicycle path that runs along the river and allows for thematic bicycle touring. Since ancient times, the village has been a very popular place of passage. The marina, the lock, the hamlet of Portout and its Gallo-Roman museum, the mill and the fortified house make it a very popular tourist site. It is estimated that 150,000 visitors come every year. It must be said that the place is particularly photogenic and very flowery in the beautiful season.
