About ten kilometers from Annecy, the village of Marcellaz-Albanais is composed of many hamlets. This commune of the Savoyard Genevois depended partly on the lordship of Hauteville at the time of the visit of Saint François de Sales in 1608. The church was then in a sorry state. The church of Saint-Maurice was built in 1844 on the site of the church of which it has retained the bell tower of 1625. You can see the castle Juge de Pieuillet (inhabited by the family of Auguste Juge, poet and judge Savoyard), a residence composed of a rectangular building whose facade is surrounded by two square towers, and the fortified house of Rogles, from the 15th century.
