Cliousclat is one of 3 pottery villages in the Drôme, along with Dieulefit and Saint-Uze. The perched village of Cliousclat has been involved in the pottery trade since the 18thcentury . Farmers began turning clay, and by the 19thcentury , almost the entire village was making a living from utilitarian and decorative glazed clay pottery. This tradition lives on. Cliousclat is home to three workshops offering plates, bowls, jugs and flower jars, as well as a small museum open in summer. This pretty village of stone houses, with their Provence-blue shutters coloring the narrow streets, lends itself to pleasant strolls. A potter's tour is a must.
