Mirabel is a medieval village, fortified and perched, overlooking the river Drôme, facing the 3 Becs. The name Mirabel-et-Blacons only dates from 1805. In the 19th century, industrialisation arrived with the creation, in 1818, of a paper mill by the Lombard-Latune family, in Blacons, competing with that of Canson & Montgolfier, whose activity lasted until 1972. At the beginning of the 20th century, the town hall was transferred from Mirabel to Blacons. Little by little, the villagers left Mirabel. In Blacons, the old buildings of the paper mill were rehabilitated by the municipality. They house the town hall, the multipurpose room, associations and housing
