In the Middle Ages, this village of a thousand inhabitants was a stronghold of breeders, mainly sheep, and for the richest of oxen. Goats, pigs and hives were added, not to mention the cultivation of the vine. The site shelters the ruins of an old sanctuary dedicated to Saint-Julien-en-Goye, on the heights, certainly an original Gallo-Roman site of the village. Among the places to discover during walks around: the old veins of Eteize (galena mines), the Suc de Clava with its serpentine of black rocks, the lake of Ternay and beautiful forests. Finally, for lovers of... letters, Savas is one of the few French municipalities to be part of the palindromes, i.e. whose name can be written and read in either direction.
