Les Assions is a rural commune, 4 km from Les Vans, and belongs to the Monts d'Ardèche regional nature park. There are typical plant species: olive trees, cades, holm oaks, aromatic plants... Bounded to the south by the river Chassezac, the commune extends half on the sandstone of the low Cévennes and half on the limestone plateau of Gras. The relief, cut by torrents and rivers, presents marls and hills. To the west, sandstone hamlets and vineyards, olive trees and chapels mark the landscape. To the east, a plateau of limestone scrubland, cut by the Chassez canyon, with numerous capitelles.
