Like nineteen other Lozere communes, Saint-Martin-de-Boubaux is integrated into the community of communes of the Cevennes in Mont Lozere. At the beginning of the century, the abbot Pourcher came to settle a little away from this village which counted only three or four catholic families. It is in this peaceful setting that he wrote and printed books of piety or local history, the most famous being the one devoted to the Beast of Gévaudan, which is an authority for those who are closely interested in the matter. Today, the village of 200 inhabitants, surrounded by forests of conifers and chestnut trees, adheres to the charter of the Cevennes National Park
