A commune bordering the Ain, the department to which it is attached, and the Saône-et-Loire, from which it is separated by the Saône. Overlooking the Saône valley, in the natural region of Bresse, Cormoranche offers beautiful views of the Beaujolais hillsides and is home to some beautiful Bresse farms. A parcel of the territory is part of the area classified as a natural area of ecological interest, fauna and flora grouped under the name Prairies inondables du val de Saône. To see the Romanesque church of Saint-Didier dating from the 11th century, a former priory on the church square and the castle of Montportail from the 17th century.
