Situated at the crossroads of Vaucluse, Drôme, Ardèche and Gard, camped on the Lez, Bollène is considered the gateway to Provence. One climbs up to the top of the town, into the gardens of the Collegiate Church where the panorama opens onto the Cévennes, the Rhone valley and the red tiled roofs. The narrow streets cross the squares with their Provençal character, also some mansions. In the 19th century, the Industrial Revolution left its mark. An important refractory products factory was created thanks to the large clay deposits, followed in the 20th century by the Blondel hydroelectric plant with the development of the canal
