It makes you smile to know that this commune changed its name in 1970, because it was previously called: Les Crottes. Crotos in Provençal means a storage cellar and the name had nothing pejorative for its inhabitants. Crots, like many villages in the region, experienced a new boom following the impoundment of the Serre-Ponçon reservoir in 1959. The 28 hamlets of the village of Crots saw the construction of numerous residences with panoramic views of the lake, as well as hotel restaurants. Numerous hikes around the Abbey of Boscodon, especially in the imposing forest. The torrent of Boscodon has violent floods.
