This village is located on the east bank of the Serre-Ponçon dam, almost on the border with the Hautes-Alpes. Coming from Barcelonnette, a few kilometres before reaching Pontis, you cross the pass of the same name, where you can enjoy a superb panorama of the Serre-Ponçon lake. This village of barely fifty inhabitants dispersed in seven hamlets presents a remarkable site with its coiffed damsels. The demoiselles are rocks with astonishing shapes (like long slender ladies wearing hats) due to erosion. Indeed, these chimneys are first built in the ground and then gradually cleared at the surface by erosion.
