The small village of Guesnes was chosen in 1106 by the Fontevrists to found a priory. The particularity of this order was to found double monasteries, a monastery of monks next to a monastery of nuns. Nevertheless, the monastery of Guesnes was an exception and welcomed only nuns. In Guesnes, one can see its remains in tufa stone, converted much later into a farm. The village is surrounded by an interesting natural environment, between the forest of Scévolles and its pond, which are covered by numerous paths, and the plain of Mirebalais, classified as a Natural Zone of Ecological, Faunistic and Floristic Interest.
