Niederroedern is located at the crossroads of three Roman roads. It is one of the municipalities whose population, due to its proximity to the Maginot Line, was evacuated to Haute Vienne at the beginning of the Second World War. We see the birthplace of Frédérique Brion, the ephemeral passion of the poet Goethe, an 18th century church operating in the simultaneum mode (where both Catholic and Protestant cults are assured), and a communal cemetery (18th-21st centuries) whose particularity is that there are tombs of several religious denominations, each with a specific location.
