Located in Baretous, at an altitude of 340 metres, Issor is a small village of nearly 250 inhabitants. Caves and megalithic arrangements prove a very old life near the town. A dolmen was discovered in 1951 and a crone in 1975. Its castle has also made its reputation, but today only a few ruins remain, walls open to the public. But the town also has a more contemporary history: Pierre Poeyredon was a Béarnais merchant who moved to Argentina. He is the father of Juan Martin de Pueyrredón, an Argentine military and politician, who, with José San Martin, from 1806 onwards, was one of Argentina's liberators and its first President of the Republic. This prestigious past has allowed Issor to establish, in 2009, links with this South American country, by welcoming a descendant of this personality. The other figure in the village is Jean-Jacques Cazaurang, first magistrate at the time and writer.
