In this village, at a place called Castera de Pères or Tutes de Carrelore, the Bérénice cave was most certainly a prehistoric shelter, given the Aurignacian-age material found inside, then a veritable lookout point for the Roman road, at the exit to Pène d'Escot. Famous for its Bager forest, home to the Maquis who derailed a train in June 1944. After a period of thermal activity linked to its ferro-copper water resources, now interrupted, the village remains a charming stopover. The Gave d'Aspe and Ourtau rivers, together with the Château de Lurbe and the church of Saint-Étienne, make it a very pleasant place to visit.
