Situated in a vast plain, between cereal fields and vineyards, Olite (3 900 inhab.) deserves a stop to discover its extraordinary and very well preserved castle-palace, in the heart of its old medieval quarter. A royal residence in the 15th century, the town preserves interesting civil and religious buildings. Along its narrow streets, you can admire beautiful noble houses, Renaissance and Baroque palaces, as well as the admirable Gothic portal of the church of Santa María. Olite is also famous for its wine production. Its numerous wineries give it the status of "wine capital" of Navarre.
