At the end of the 19th century, Trignac depends on the commune of Montoir-de-Bretagne. On January1, 1914, Trignac becomes a commune. Houses and cities are built, the population increases. The islands are populated thanks to the filling. It is today a city located between Loire and Grande Brière Mottière, bordering Saint-Nazaire. The Forges de Trignac were established there in 1879. Their first role was to supply the new shipyards with steel, taking over from the many artisanal forges in the Chateaubriant area. They contributed to the war effort during the First World War, before closing permanently in 1932
