Corseven's name would be Latin Corpus Septimum. This assumption is confirmed by historian Ogée in his historical and geographical dictionary of Brittany in 1845: «Corseven was on the banks of the Loire, the seventh parish created under the word Saint Martin; She received from there the name of Corpus Septimum which gave Corsept. Nearby from Paimbboeuf, this municipality is the northern boundary of the Country of Retz and is located on the left bank of the Loire. The softness of its landscapes inspired the painter and burner C. Corot, who stayed in the house of the Pasquiaud, property of the landscape landscaper Charles Leroux. Corot painted works of art that were discovered only in 1984, which unfortunately cannot be visited.
