Its beautiful beaches, creeks and rocks make Préfailles a charming seaside resort. In 1788, a doctor revealed the virtues of the ferruginous spring which helped fight infectious diseases: this was the arrival of the first curists. From 1860 onwards, the vogue for "chalet" style villas replaced the bourgeois houses. Recognizable by their sloping roofs and their central building sometimes flanked by a tower, they contribute to the charm of Préfailles.
