This small village, with its original historical heritage, is the only example in the world where, in a rural environment, two convents of the Carthusian order, Val-Saint-Esprit for the fathers in 1320 and Mont-Sainte-Marie for the nuns in 1329, have cohabited for several centuries. Today, this village is worth a visit in more ways than one. In addition to the remains of the nuns' convent, you should take a break with the conversion of the Val Saint-Esprit into a (luxury) hotel, the French gardens, the landscaping of a former coal mine and a contemporary masterpiece of religious art in the church. A stopover to add to your tour.
