The town dates back to the legend of Quintinus, a Roman apostle. Unloved, he was taken prisoner, executed and thrown into the swamp. 55 years later, legend has it that a blind Roman woman regained her sight thanks to the remains of Quintinus. The pious village knew the rise, the Spanish conquest, the wars. The war of 1914-1918 left a field of ruins. Rebuilt, the city is adorned with the exuberance of Art Deco: old New Galleries, city hall, facades ... The 1920s left an indelible mark. From the pre-war period, two monuments remain: the gothic style basilica and the façade of the town hall dating from the medieval period
