A small tourist village nestled in a cirque of rock at the confluence of the Lot and Vers rivers, Saint-Géry-Vers was formed in 2017 from the merger of the two villages of Saint-Géry and Vers. You can still see the remains of the Roman aqueduct dug into the rock, which carried drinking water from the Vers for 33 kilometers to Cahors. A cave above Vers is said to have housed a Cathar library. Downstream, the former 12th-century Mariners' chapel, built in the shape of a Latin cross, now bears the name Notre-Dame-de-Velles. The chapel was once a pilgrimage site for bargemen on the Lot. Between Vers and Saint-Géry lies the partly ruined Trégantou dolmen tumulus.
