Huttenheim was formed around fishing. Originally, the village was only a small grouping of fishermen's huts. It still has a beautiful chapel called Notre-Dame-du-Grasweg which is about 600 years old. It contains a statue of the Virgin and Child from the 15th century and paintings from the same period. The other church in the village, under the patronage of Adelphe, was rebuilt between 1843 and 1845 and has a Romanesque porch tower. To discover Huttenheim, Sernersheim and Kogenheim in more detail, a guidebook is on sale at the Benfeld tourist office. It details a 12 kilometer discovery tour.
